Radial Shockwave Therapy

Radial Shockwave Therapy is an acoustic pulse that helps the bodies injured area increase metabolic activity around the site of pain.

Shockwave Therapy decreases the fibrosis of repair through the healing cycle by increasing circulation, and breaking up scar tissue.

Radial Shockwave Therapy has been scientifically proven to help relieve chronic pain associated with the following conditions:

– Plantar Fasciitis
(heel pain)
– Achilles Tendinitis
– Shin Splints
– IT Band Friction Syndrome
– (Hip) Trochanteric Bursitis
– Lateral Epicondylitis
(Tennis Elbow)
– Medial Epicondylitis
(Golfer’s Elbow)
– Patellar Tendinitis
(Jumper’s Knee)
– Rotator Cuff Tendinitis
– Calcific Tendonosis
– Pain caused by Trigger Points or Myofascial Adhesions

It usually takes 3-5 treatments about one week apart, with follow up appointments 4-12 weeks after the completion.  However healing will continue up to three months after the final treatment has been administered.

Shockwave Therapy is an excellent alternative for people with chronic injuries who suffer from pain and have exhausted other treatment avenues (e.g. chiropractic, physiotherapy, massage therapy, etc.), and can often be used pre-surgery.

Though typically requiring 3-5 treatments for optimal results, most patients will feel significant improvement of symptoms after only the first treatment.

Treatment is carried out my passing over the injured area with the shockwave applicator. Guided by the patient feedback, the exact positioning of the shockwave applicator is determined for optimum results.

The treatments last approximately five minutes and can be at times slightly uncomfortable, but are well tolerated by everyone.
